Hundreds of devotees Kejawen uploads in Tomb Bonokeling

Banyumas- Hundreds of Islamists Kejawen of various areas in Banyumas and Cilacap, Central Java, following the ritual "Upload" in the tomb Bonokeling, Pakuncen Village, District Jatilawang, Banyumas. Ritual "uploads" or Sadran (visit the tomb or shrine in Ruwah to give prayer to bring offerings to the ancestors) is a tradition held every last Friday of the month Ruwah (Shaban) to welcome the arrival of Ramadan.

In this tradition, the followers of Javanese Javanese outfit to wear, the women wear only "tank" (jarit cloth) with a white scarf, while men must wear cloth or sarong and wearing iket (headband). Before they go up, they are obliged to perform ablutions.


Upload-uploads Ritual is a top event to welcome the fasting month. Although in the beginning, before Islam came, the event is done before the rice planting season. Ritual participants came from Banyumas and Cilacap. They came to the place of ritual in a way on foot. On the way to the ritual place located up to 30 kilometers, they are prohibited from using footwear. This ritual usually lasts for three days.

The Indigenous Tribe Bonokeling from the area arrived in the village Pekuncen since Thursday (4/7) to participate in a "praise" (a kind of remembrance) as a form of safety plea to God Almighty, which was held on Friday morning starting at 00:00 am until 4:00 pm.

After the pilgrimage is completed, they also held a "Pisowanan" (meeting) with the caretaker of the tomb in the Bale Agung, followed festivity in Bale Mangun on Bonokeling Tomb complex. Food eaten in the feast cooked by men around the tomb complex Bonokeling of materials brought by the pilgrims.

Indigenous Tribe together in kinship Bonokeling continue entrenched until now. The key is that the older generation pass on this tradition to their children and grandchildren. But to follow the tradition, the next generation to do it on his own.

"To follow this tradition should not be any compulsion, it does not impose the will and consciousness. All own accord to follow the teachings of Bonokeling," he said.

According to him, this tradition can survive all because of the belief, because the belief that this tradition is still maintained where people still keep Bonokeling teachings.

"The core teaching is very simple Bonkeling the honest, patient and nrimo (accept)," he said.

But he too did not deny if the toughest challenge to keep this tradition very much, according to him, the era of globalization with a number of technologies is a challenge. "People now are using technology, such as the influence of television, so do not remember if we will die," he said.

He said the current Indigenous Tribe Bonokeling spread across every region in the district in Cilacap and Banyumas regency which is close to the village Pakuncen number around 4 thousand, but it has not been the guests of the two districts as far away from the barn and Adiraja in Leaves Cilacap.

"It was only about four thousand Pakuncen neighboring village bordering the Cilacap and Banyumas regency, while guests who came earlier numbering around 800 people," he explained.

Once the upload is completed the ritual, there is also a tradition Udunan. However, the tradition is not as busy Upload-uploads. Other cultural procession which is still held by the Indigenous Tribe Bonokeling is Alms Earth. This tradition is also chaired by the Kartasari Interpreter Lock (70). The ritual is actually a prayer mat before planting. Indigenous people living in the village Bonokeling Pekuncen carrying groceries complete with side dishes and taken to the local village hall. Having collected all, caretaker Javanese prayed asking the Almighty and invoking the blessings of the ancestors so that in future there is no obstacle planting and can be harvested with good results.

In the tradition of throwing rice also held events that have shaped into spheres. Toss the rice as a form of togetherness, so for those who got hit should not be angry. Rice scattered on the streets back then collected and given to chickens and birds were maintained.
